When news spread this morning that Obama has officially earned the Nobel Peace Prize for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," I was a little bit surprised. What has he done? This is a pretty prestigious honor. Then I thought, well they gave one to Jimmy Carter and he really didn't do anything either.
As more and more, people are getting ancy regarding the Obama administration's lack of accomplishing anything (other than the Cash for Clunkers program), I feel as though this is another "nothing" accomplishment as well. Saturday Night Live comedian's even parodied his lack of accomplishing anything substantial so far. Let's get a move on, please! Our country is in desperate need of help.
Don't get me wrong. I would have never wanted to be in Obama's shoes last January when he got inaugurated as President. This is one of the most toughest times to be President of the United States. That aside a lot of people are counting on him and it's time to deliver.
He is a charismatic, intelligent highly influential leader with a lot on his plate. Polls all say people love him, they just don't love his politics. As John Stewart said, rather than staring at that plate of "things to do," lets pick up our fork Obama and start eating away at some of those things.
